Famous Sons of Halstead:
- Dr. Hertzler, founder of Halstead Hospital in 1902 and Hertzler Clinic in 1926.
- The Halstead Cowboys, a semi-pro baseball team, produced many fine ball players, including Larry Gura.
- Boyhood home of the late, legendary basketball coach Adolf Rupp of the Kentucky Wildcats. Halstead High School has hosted the annual Rupp Tournament since 1976.
